David Wiley on Success: A Life of Sport, Business, and Service

In the ever-evolving world of finance, the role of an investment trust company remains a cornerstone for many investors seeking diversified and professionally managed portfolios.

David Wiley is an entrepreneur, former two-time All-American athlete, and founder of Belief Marketing Services.

Born in Roanoke, Virginia, while his father was serving as a Marine officer in Vietnam, Wiley moved to Atlanta in 1972. He has lived in Metro Atlanta ever since, drawing on lessons of discipline and service learned from both family and sport.

At Wofford College, Wiley studied Business Economics and graduated with a 3.4 GPA. On the gridiron, he earned All-American honours in 1989 and 1990 and served as team captain in his senior year. These experiences taught him leadership, resilience, and focus—qualities that would shape his business career.

In 1998, Wiley launched his first company, supplying HP toner cartridges to major corporations such as Coca-Cola, Bayer, Lockheed Martin, and the NFL. Sixteen years later, he founded Belief Marketing Services, which has become known for targeted lead generation in personal lending, home warranty, wireless services, and especially legal marketing. His speciality lies in producing highly qualified motor vehicle accident claimants, with incident dates closely tied to the accident itself.

Beyond business, Wiley founded Cash In Time Ministries, a not-for-profit that provides immediate support for families facing urgent financial crises. He also coached girls’ soccer for eight years, leading a recreational team from age nine to a Top 10 state ranking just 3 short years later.

Through business, coaching, and service, Wiley has built a career rooted in consistent effort, practical solutions, and a commitment to helping others succeed.

Interview with David Wiley on Success

Q&A with David Wiley on Career, Industry, and Leadership

What role did your early life play in shaping who you are today?

I was born in Roanoke, Virginia, while my father was serving as a Marine officer in Vietnam. In 1972 we moved to Atlanta, and I’ve lived in Metro Atlanta ever since. Growing up, I saw the discipline my father carried from the Marines, and that stayed with me. It showed me the value of consistency and focus.

How did your time at Wofford College influence your path?

Studying Business Economics gave me the academic foundation, however the rigors sport shaped my character. I was fortunate to be a two-time All-American in football in 1989 and 1990, and team captain my senior year. That experience was about more than the game—it was about leading under pressure and taking responsibility. Those lessons translated directly into business later.

Tell us about your first business in 1998.

I started selling HP toner cartridges. It might sound simple, but there was a real need at the time. Large organizations like Coca-Cola and the NFL were printing their payrolls in-house. They needed reliable supplies, and I stepped in to meet that demand. It taught me that business success starts with spotting opportunities others overlook.

What led you to launch Belief Marketing Services in 2014?

After years in the supply business, I wanted to expand into something more dynamic. Belief Marketing began with personal lending, home warranty, and wireless services. Over time, legal marketing became our main focus. Today, we specialize in generating highly qualified claimants in motor vehicle accidents. Precision matters—we focus on incident dates very close to the actual accident. That makes a huge difference for our clients.

What sets your business approach apart in such a competitive field?

For me, it’s about quality over quantity. I’d rather deliver ten excellent leads than a hundred weak ones. Our system is data-driven and built on accuracy. That reliability is what keeps clients coming back.

Outside of business, you also dedicate time to service. How did Cash In Time Ministries come about?

I saw people in my community who didn’t have a safety net. If they were short on rent or their power was about to be cut off, they had nowhere to turn. Cash In Time Ministries fills that gap. We step in with small, urgent support—things that make the difference between stability and crisis.

You also coached girls’ soccer for eight years. What did that experience teach you?

It was one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. I took a recreational team of nine-year-olds and helped develop them into a Top 10 team in Georgia by age thirteen. That journey showed me the power of steady improvement. Success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built step by step.

How do you personally define success?

For me, success is twofold: did I help my clients achieve their goals, and did I make a difference in my community? If the answer is yes to both, then I’ve done my job.

Have you faced setbacks along the way?

Of course. Everyone does. In football, if you fumble, you don’t sit there dwelling on it—you get up and prepare for the next play. I’ve carried that mentality into business. When something goes wrong, I assess it, learn, and move forward.

What advice would you give to others seeking success in business and life?

Don’t chase every trend. Pick a lane, commit to it, and go deep. Believe 100% in yourself and prove the doubters wrong. Depth brings results. And don’t forget to give back. Success isn’t only about what you build for yourself—it’s also about the impact you have on others.
